5 Ways to Speed Up PC
April 30, 2010
All in One Blog
Are you fed up with your slow PC? Well you can Speed Up your PC by 3 times. In this post you’ll find some of the most significant ways to speed up your PC. For your convenience, I ’ll split this post into 2 parts.1. Automatic Ways to Speed Up PC (Using PC Speed Up Softwares)
2. Manual Ways to Speed Up PC
Automatic Ways to Speed Up PC
You can use a PC Optimizer Tool to automatically boost the Speed of your PC without the need to worry about the manual ways of doing it. These tools will automatically find and fix upto 99% of your PC errors by optimizing the Windows registry, cleaning up junk files, removing unwanted items from the start up etc. This can speed up your PC and Internet speed by upto 3 times. Here are some of the best PC Optimizer Programs that I recommend.
1. Perfect Optimizer
2. Registry Easy
Using a PC Optimizer is the easiest way to speed up your PC. This is because, most of the performance tweaks such as Registry Cleanup cannot be done manually.
Manual Ways to Speed Up Your PC
1. Free Up Disk Space to increase the speed of your PC
Remove temporary Internet files.
Empty the Recycle Bin.
Remove Windows temporary files.
Uninstall Programs that you no longer use.
2. Periodically Perform Hard Disk Defragment. This can Speed Up your PC significantly.
3. Clean Up your Registry (Highly Recommended)
Cleaning Up your Windows Registry is very much necessary to speed up your PC. Unfortunately you cannot do this manually. You have to use a Registry Cleaner to do this. Here is the best registry cleaner on the web.
Registry Easy
A complete review of registry cleaners can be found at Registry Cleaner Comparison
4. Clean Up the browser cache to Speed Up your Internet.
5. Install a good Antispyware software
Spywares can really hurt the performance of your PC. So, install a good anti-spyware to protect your PC from spywares and improve the speed of your PC. I recommend the following Antispywares to protect your PC.
1. Spyware Cease
2. Nodware Anti-Spyware
Which is the Best Way to Speed Up my PC? (Auto or Manual)
The best way to speed Up your PC is by using a PC Optimizer such as Perfect Optimizer or Registry Easy. This is because, manual ways can only perform 30-40% of the tweaks to improve the speed of your PC, but the most important aspect of the Speed Up process such as Registry clean Up and other advanced performance tweaks can only be done using a PC Optimizer software. So if you are serious about improving the speed of your PC, then you need to use a PC Optimizer.

A simple Remote control Tester
March 26, 2010
All in One Blog
Here is a handy gadget for test- ing of infrared (IR) based re- mote control transmitters used for TVs and VCRs etc. The IR signals from a remote control transmitter are sensed by the IR sensor module in the tester and its output at pin 2 goes low. This in turn switches on transistor T1 and causes LED1 to blink. At the same time, the buzzer beeps at the same rate as the incoming signals from the remote control transmitter. The pressing of different buttons on the remote control will result in different pulse rates which would change the rate at which the LED blinks or the buzzer beeps. When no signal is sensed by the sensor module, output pin 2 of the sensor goes high and, as a result, transistor T1 switches off and hence LED1 and buzzer BZ1 go off. This circuit requires 5V regulated power supply which can be obtained from 9V eliminator and connected to the circuit through a jack. Capacitor C1 smoothes DC input while capacitor C2 suppresses any sudden spikes appearing in the input supply. Here, a plastic moulded sensor has been used so that it can easily stick out from a cut in the metal box in which it is housed. It requires less space. Proper grounding of the metal case will ensure that the electromagnetic emissions which are produced by tube-lights and electronic ballasts etc (which lie within the bandwidth of receiver circuit) are effectively grounded and do not interfere with the functioning of the circuit. The proposed layout of the box containing the circuit is shown in the figure. The 9-volt DC supply from the eliminator can be fed into the jack using a banana-type plug.
Tech. Editors note: In fact, the complete gadget can be assembled in the eliminators housing itself and a cut can be made in its body for exposing the IR modules sensor part.

Free Download Norton 360 4.0 ( Free 90 Days Trial Subscription )
March 20, 2010
All in One Blog
This is the version I'm really interested in testing out after using Norton 360 3.x for more than a year. Finally the latest version of Norton 360 4.0 is here. Norton 360 which is developed by Symantec, is different from other Norton's products because it is marketed as an "all-in-one" security suite. This suite consists of personal firewall, ability to detect & remove malware, phishing protection, PC maintenance and backup.Symantec claims the latest Norton 360 4.0 has new features such as Norton Insight, SONAR 2 Behavioral Protection, Norton Download Insight, Norton File Insight and Norton System Insight. These features are not really new though as some people might think because these features had already been incorporated into IS 2010 and Norton AV when both products were launched about 5 months ago. The only things that can be considered as "new" are "Web-based Access to Backup Files" and "Reputation service".
The Web-based Access to Backup Files feature allows user to retrieve and restore files that already backed up anywhere, anytime from virtually any machines through internet access. As for the reputation service, it adds additional layer of protection when detecting viruses, spyware, Trojans and other threats. Norton reputation service technology scrutinizes different attributes of files and applications in real-time to determine if they are safe.
Since Norton products are based on subscription, you can upgrade to version 4.0 for free if you have an active subscription. The version 4.0 cannot be upgraded from LiveUpdate because you only get definition files and small update patches. You need to download the Norton 360 4.0 setup file which is 138 MB in size and install it over the current version. If you’re interested in trying out the latest Norton 360 4.0, you can download the file from the following link and you will get a free 90-day subscription.
